Ep9 - When God Doesn't Make Sense
There are so many times things happen in life that we just don't understand. God takes us down a path but changes our course unexpectedly, or He allows circumstances into unfold in our lives--or in the lives of our loved ones--and we struggle to understand the reason or purpose. Today we talk about our response to God when He doesn't make sense and some thoughts about what He might be up to when we are confused.

Isaiah 55:8-9 (NIV) “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the Lord. “As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.

John 13:1-7 (NIV) It was just before the Passover Festival. Jesus knew that the hour had come for him to leave this world and go to the Father. Having loved his own who were in the world, he loved them to the end. The evening meal was in progress, and the devil had already prompted Judas, the son of Simon Iscariot, to betray Jesus. Jesus knew that the Father had put all things under his power, and that he had come from God and was returning to God; so he got up from the meal, took off his outer clothing, and wrapped a towel around his waist. After that, he poured water into a basin and began to wash his disciples’ feet, drying them with the towel that was wrapped around him. He came to Simon Peter, who said to him, “Lord, are you going to wash my feet?” Jesus replied, “You do not realize now what I am doing, but later you will understand.”

Proverbs 2:1-5 (NIV) 
My son, if you accept my words and store up my commands within you, turning your ear to wisdom and applying your heart to understanding indeed, if you call out for insight and cry aloud for understanding, and if you look for it as for silver and search for it as for hidden treasure, then you will understand the fear of the Lord and find the knowledge of God.


Ephesians 3:20-21 (NIV) Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen.

Romans 8:28 (NIV) 
And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.

Luke 22:42 (NIV) ​“Father, if you are willing, take this cup from me; yet not my will, but yours be done.”
